Antique lavatory faucets are a great way to add some classic style to your home.  They have made it through a lot and have the character to show for it!  There isn’t much maintenance that goes into faucets, and not many parts to break, so old lavatory faucets usually work as well now as they did when they were new.  In this post I want to share how to find these faucets and some of the minor repairs that you might have to make.

A single hole lavatory faucet is the style that you’re most likely to find when shopping for antiques.  That’s because this was the common style then, and luckily it’s still popular now!

Finding these at antique stores is possible, but rare.  It will take a lot of trips around town to stumble across antique faucets.  Unlike vintage door knobs and vintage keys, these are much more difficult to find.  If you are lucky enough to find them it’s a good idea to buy them, even if you don’t use them.  Selling them later on online is very easy.

Shopping for antique lavatory faucets online is the best choice.  eBay always has a ton of options that you can bid on, or buy right away.  The good thing is that there are a lot of different options, so you don’t have to go with the first one that you see, instead spend the time to find the one that is actually going to work well in your lavatory.

There are other antique stores online, but many of them will have higher prices than if you shopped on eBay.  They are able to assign more accurate prices, which tend to be higher.

If you have any experience fixing a leaky faucet, you already know how to fix antique ones.  Faucet leaks are almost always due to worn out washers inside.  All it takes is removing the handles and swapping out the washers, which are available at your local hardware stores.  You now have a perfectly functioning antique faucet!

Antique lavatory faucets are an easy way to add some old school cool to your home.  Just be sure to shop around first so that you aren’t stuck with something that you paid too much for!
